  • Week in Review: December 4th - 8th

    This week in STEM, students learned that chocolate is made from cacao beans. Let's just say that cacao beans do NOT taste like the chocolate we are used to!   • Week in Review: November 20th-22nd

    We are so lucky to be partnered with Yale University and have an opportunity to work with Yale Demos.   Our teachers giving feedback to some furniture options for our new building on the campus of SCSU.  So exciting!   An awesome team of Strong staff members put together a turkey dinner for our entire staff!  Thank you to everyone who made a dish! We are all so grateful and everything was delicious! Students in 3rd grade made "multiplication turkeys" to celebrate the holiday and show multiplication in four ways. ...

  • Week in Review: November 13th-17th

    After completing a unit on portraits, one of our 2nd grade students creates a portrait of a tiger.  Isn't is cute that her the color of her bows match the tiger? Our third grade studied the evolution of written communication.  In STEM students created mail carriers and programmed the Dash and Dot Robots to deliver different types of mail through a series of obstacles. On Monday, we celebrated our 5th annual National Day of Reading,  formerly known as Ben Carson Reading Day to raise awareness of the importance of everyday, leisure reading.  Look at the excitement one of our third grade classes had to share what they read! Fourth Graders read an article and watched a video on Scholastic News to learn about the recent hurricanes.  This helped students to write letters to students in Puerto Rico for the Hispanic Heritage Month activity. We continue to think about everyone who was impacted by the hurricanes. Our Kindergarten students using learning mats in Physical Education. The learning mats utilize technology and physical fitness to reinforce  math, literacy, and health skills during Physical Education.   ...

  • October Harambee

    We are so lucky to be working with the SCSU Urban Fellows again this year during Harambee.  Harambee, in Swahili, means "all pull together."  This is a time where our second graders come together to sing songs, participate in a read aloud with a guest reader, and get started for the day.  Check out some highlights from our October Harambee.   ...
