March Town Meeting

We had an awesome time at Town Meeting this month.  We were able to celebrate our Magnet School of Distinction award as well as all of our respectful students, magic mailbox winners, and students with perfect attendance. We even had a visit from Captain Attendance.  Thank you to Mrs. Cappiello's class for teaching us about technology and Ms. Walkers class for entertaining us with their performance of Respect.

2nd Grade Peabody Museum

The students in Grade 2 enjoyed their trip to the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History! They especially loved visiting with the creatures and critters in the Discovery Room where they were able to get to know the Walking Stick bug.

District Invention Convention at Alexion Pharmaceuticals

Our 4th grade students did an outstanding job representing our school at the District-Wide Invention Convention at Alexion Pharmaceutical.  Congratulations to Arielyz who placed first in New Haven and Clara who placed third for her!  We will be routing for you in the regional competition.  Thank you Alexion Pharmaceuticals for hosting us.

Magnet School of Distinction Award

We are proud to announce that we have been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.  To receive a national merit award, schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.

Seed to Salad Program

Our second grade students will be participating in the Seed to Salad program on the Yale Farm.  Today we made name tags and became farmers by planting seeds that we will later transplant to the Yale Farm.  We can't wait to see how our vegetables grow!
