Week in Review: December 4th - 8th

This week in STEM, students learned that chocolate is made from cacao beans. Let's just say that cacao beans do NOT taste like the chocolate we are used to!

Another student NOT enjoying the origin

of chocolate!

Our 3rd grade students visit the British Art

Gallery in New Haven to ignite their creative

side.  Check out some students in action.

Our 4th grade students learn how a

Our 4th grade students getting a lesson

about some of the tools canine officers

Week in Review: November 20th-22nd

We are so lucky to be partnered with Yale University and have an opportunity to work with Yale Demos.

Our teachers giving feedback to some furniture options for our new

building on the campus of SCSU.  So exciting!

An awesome team of Strong staff members put together a turkey

dinner for our entire staff!  Thank you to everyone who made a dish!

We are all so grateful and everything was delicious!

Students in 3rd grade made "multiplication turkeys" to celebrate

the holiday and show multiplication in four ways.

Week in Review: November 13th-17th

After completing a unit on portraits, one of our 2nd grade students

creates a portrait of a tiger.  Isn't is cute that her the color of her bows

match the tiger?

Our third grade studied the evolution of written communication.  In

STEM students created mail carriers and programmed the Dash and Dot

Robots to deliver different types of mail through a series of obstacles.

On Monday, we celebrated our 5th annual National Day of Reading,

formerly known as Ben Carson Reading Day to raise awareness

of the importance of everyday, leisure reading.  Look at the

excitement one of our third grade classes had to share

what they read!

Fourth Graders read an article and watched a video on Scholastic News

to learn about the recent hurricanes.  This helped students to write

letters to students in Puerto Rico for the Hispanic Heritage Month

activity. We continue to think about everyone

who was impacted by the hurricanes.

Our Kindergarten students using learning mats in Physical Education.

The learning mats utilize technology and physical fitness to reinforce

math, literacy, and health skills during Physical Education.
